Doodling and Drawing with Kids at Little Pulp Printmaking Workshop

In 2017, I started a Printmaking Workshop and Collaborative Art Studio for Kids- in my hometown of Queens, NY. The shop is called Little Pulp and at the heart of what we do, is essentially doodling and drawing.

Kids and their accompanying adults draw and doodle with pencils onto foam printing plates – using pencils, ball point pens, fineliner pens and other drawing tools.

After they doodle their art onto the printing plate, we ink up the plates using brayers and printmaking Inks and then printed on our kid-friendly printing press. Here are some pics.

So, this particular post was a bit of a departure from my daily doodles but I thought it would be nice to show you what I do – since it is connected to why I daily doodle. I have met a lot of kids in the past seven years, and my mission is to try and inspire them to make drawing part of their daily routine.

I believe that drawing consistently – especially drawing what’s around you- makes you more aware of your surroundings, makes you appreciate the small and simple things in life and makes you a more compassionate person. At least that’s how I see it.
