This morning, when I woke up, I decided my daily doodle would not require explanation - the image would tell the story and the only hand-lettering would be “March 21”.
No class trip, so I took Bowie (puppy) for long morning walk. We both heard woodpecker doing her thing - and we both looked up and around to find. Took a while, but I located and watched her “drilling” or “drumming” away.
Fun (Woodpecker) Fact: Did you know that when a woodpecker pecks to remove wood, it’s called ‘drilling’ and when she pecks to just produce sound, it’s called “drumming”.
How on earth can you tell which she’s doing? -I guessed ‘drumming’.
Have you ever actually seen a woodpecker in action. It’s like a jack-hammer - so fast, hard to imagine it’s a living-being and not a machine.
All day long I wondered if a woodpecker ever gets a headache and there went my daily doodle.
