Doodling Everyday Objects

Doodling Everyday Objects

Doodling everyday objects, specifically an object that you would not normally think to draw, help you appreciate the simple things and, at least for me, help me stay more positive and hopeful.

Today, I woke up and said to myself, I want to draw something completely mundane -an object in the house that we use everyday, but don’t give much thought. Moments later, hunched over the sink, brushing my teeth - and the tube of toothpaste is staring back at me - begging me to choose it. Yes, I’ll bite, I will sit down and doodle a tube of Crest Toothpaste.

When was the last time you held a tube of toothpaste and were fascinated by it’s material, by the way it functions - how satisfying it is to hold it and mush it around in your hands. The way the cap feels when you open it for the first time and how different it feels when you open it for the last time. I have to admit, I never thought of any of these things until I doodled the tube today.

Now, every time I brush my teeth, I will appreciate the toothpaste tube and it’s contents a little bit more than I’ve ever in the past. I guess that’s the point in drawing a simple everyday object - give yourself a moment and appreciate something that’s part of your every day.

Here is my first in what I hope to be a series of mundane objects to doodle in the coming days…

Crest toothpaste, doodling everyday objects, my daily doodle book, drawing toothpaste, toothpaste, doodle a day
